Granite Links Introduces Savings for Seniors
“$65 for 65+”

Quincy, MA – April 29, 2009Granite Links Golf Club announced that, for the first time in the club’s offering, discounted greens fees will be extended exclusively for senior golfers age sixty-five and older.

The “Silver Greens Fees” reduces the club’s normal $125 rate to just $65 for play at select times on select days, starting in May.   Specifically, golfers with proof of age identification will be granted this substantially discounted rate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for tee times prior to 12 Noon and on Saturdays and Sundays for tee times after 1 PM.  As with other Granite Links daily fee rates, the Silver Greens Fees will also include golf cart and a bucket of balls for warm up at the range.

This special offering for a targeted age category is the second of such approaches taken by Granite Links.  Last year the club introduced a Young Adult Membership plan that reduced cost barriers to entry for golfers age 21-30 looking to become members at this “Top Ten Best New Upscale Golf Course in the Country.”

Membership and Marketing Director, Diane Brickley, points out that the club does not look at these programs as discount products so much as long-term growth strategies.

“The YAMs (Young Adult Members) are a sort of farm team for the club’s membership roster. By making it easier for them to become members today, we increase the likelihood of keeping them in the club for ensuing decades.”

“Similarly, with the Boomer Generation just now approaching retirement age, we are on the cusp of explosive growth in the country’s leisure demographic . Granite Links wants to engage these folks now as they’re first shifting from work and family responsibility mode to personal pursuit mode.  We believe that after experiencing our facility as a discounted visitor, many senior golfers will subsequently look to become full-fledged members here.”

The National Golf Foundation notes that Boomers currently account for 160 million rounds of the 500 million played overall today and that their numbers will grow substantially in the next eight to ten years, peaking at 235-260 million annual rounds of golf.
