Granite Links Golf Club Announces Partnership with the Weymouth Tennis and Fitness Club

Quincy, MA – April 30, 2007 – Granite Links Golf Club and the Weymouth Tennis & Fitness Club shared today that they have formed an alliance whereby members of each club will be eligible for discounted enrollment at the other club.

Effective immediately, members of Granite Links may join the Weymouth Cub at a discounted Annual Dues rate, and members of the Weymouth Club may join Granite Links at a discounted Initiation Fee.

“This is one of the true “win-win’s” said Walter Hannon, III, Granite Links’ General Manager. “We recognize that while first-rate golf and dining are clearly the priority here, some of our members have additional interests that are not a part of our offering – specifically fitness, pool and tennis.  And, in many cases, these interests are not so much for our primary club member, but for his or her family.”

Weymouth Club owner, Sally Goldman, echoed the statement. “Weymouth Club is the premier tennis and fitness club in this area and one of the only places offering both indoor and outdoor swimming pools.  It’s so much more than just another gym. It’s a health, recreation and wellness center that really is a lifestyle enhancement club.  In that regard, we’re passionate about looking for ways to address all the varied life interests of our members. Not surprisingly, golf ranks high on many people’s lists of interests.”

Examples of Weymouth Club’s commitment to expanding offerings to satisfy members’ evolving wishes include the construction of a new children & teens’ “Energy Center” scheduled to open this fall and will feature climbing walls, simulated snow board and skate board balance activities, cycling games and Dance Dance Revolution plus inflatables and arts & crafts for toddlers and a separate care center for infants. Most recently, it now also means creating an alliance with the premier golf facility in the region.

Hannon continued, “When Granite Links was being conceived, we had no interest in building yet another suburban country club that purported to offer it all because they had a handful of weights and a single treadmill.  Our mission was always to focus on having best-in-class golf with an incomparably convenient location.”

The Golf Digest designation of “Best New Upscale Golf Course in the Country” attested that the developers and golf course architect got it right; and the club’s burgeoning membership base that hails from all of Greater Boston and surrounding towns affirms the location convenience factor.

And now the best of two worlds are coming together.

“I’m personally looking forward to it,” said Steve Goldman, Weymouth Club co-owner.  “As a business person, I’ve long recognized the unique value of golf as a means to building relationships; I’d just never gotten around to taking advantage of that tool myself.  Now I will at Granite Links.

Granite Links Director of Golf, Chris Sleeper added, “It’s definitely mutual.  One of the best ways for golfers to improve their game is by improving and maintaining their general fitness. I’m looking forward to having our players utilize the resources of a Weymouth Club membership so they can start each golf season here in full swing!”

Alliance Details

For Weymouth Club members, Granite Links will extend an automatic 13% discount off its one-time joining fees which currently range from $27,500 - $35,000 depending on type of membership. That’s a very significant $3500-$4500 savings.

In return, Granite Links members will have the Weymouth Club joining fees completely waived and they’ll also be extended a 13% discount off the Weymouth Club’s annual dues, cost of which varies depending on membership plan selected.

To kick off and celebrate the new alliance, for a limited time, each club will run promotional specials for newly enrolling members.  Specifically, Granite Links will give FREE SUMMER MEMBERSHIP to the Weymouth Club to all newly enrolling golf members. And all new Weymouth Club members enrolling after April 30 will be entered into a monthly drawing for a chance to win free rounds of golf and free lessons at Granite Links.
